Concrete countertops have been a popular choice in 2018 or so. Did we mention granite is porous? Well, it is..and it’s super porous at that, and can collect bacteria if not properly taken care of.
4. Farewell to all-white kitchen
As the sub-heading reads, one already knows where this is headed for. While there is no denying an all-white kitchen holds a timeless appeal of being an ultra-bright kitchen, there are plenty of other choices to give a more intoxicating look.
Homeowners of all white kitchens are quick to realize the “practicality” of an all-white (or nearly all-white) kitchen. At cursory glance, an all-white kitchen may look pretty and classy. With spillages occurring so often in the kitchen, homeowners can see how all-white kitchen are fast to stain. Maintenance gets pretty tricky and difficult to uphold.
5. Darker-toned kitchens
As the “impracticality” that comes with all-white kitchens slowly losing its popularity, darker coloured kitchens are gradually taking its place. Darker coloured kitchens, or all black kitchens for that matter, are the anti-thesis to people who chooses to incorporate an all-white kitchens.
Dark tones set a moodier tone in your kitchen with charming and unexpected colours to create a more nuanced look. Black, or darker toned kitchens, quickly adds a sense of elegance and drama to your home.
Add colours like dark green, navy blue, and other similar darker shades of colour to your kitchen. To avoid having your kitchen looking like a black hole, incorporate some lighter hues to counter that issue.
After all, do consider adding a sense of elevated energy with colours that evokes emotion and a positive spirit. Easy to manage, it is a graceful choice to standard ivories.
6. Signature, distinctive sinks
Distinctive sinks has been making its way through popularity for a few years now, and will set to increase in popularity in 2019. Farmhouse sinks are your stereotypical, common household sinks that you can find in just about any households. But have a distinctive, unique sink in your kitchen? That will set you apart from your peers!
You know what kind of kitchen sink will set you apart from your peers? Covered kitchen sinks. It is a thing, yes..and it’s great for cleverly adding more preparation and counter space instantly. 9. Fancy, bright-coloured stoves
Just like stainless steel housing appliances that matches your home, this carries the same idea. Bright-coloured stoves can easily be the central attractive piece in your kitchen. Who wouldn’t like to prepare dinner with such a pretty stove?
The only catch to this fancy, bright-coloured stove though – it’s a quiet trend designers usually reserve for people who have a lot money to splurge. It is alleged that brands like La Cornue sells a set for approximately range of $15k to $30k, making it a colourful option most can only dream to own one. While these cost a pretty penny, it’s a trend that’s not going away anytime soon.
10. The anti-kitchen trend
It may have started from the open kitchen idea back in the 2000s. The anti-kitchen is basically a style where a kitchen decides to not look like a kitchen. Like kitchen cabinets, for example, were made for storage. This year, we will see kitchen cabinets being used to “conceal” our appliances, as if they were part of our living room and such.
More designers are providing us with options to have the ability to hide or camouflage parts of our kitchen of our choice. Ironically, open storages blur the line between kitchen and living spaces are still very much in trend. You can expect living spaces mixed with your kitchen area still going strong in 2019.
With 10 kitchen trends to watch this year, you can expect some designs that were not popular before making waves this year. At the same time, trends that were once popular are slowly losing touch and popularity with many homeowners for many reasons. By end of the day it’s all about having bold colours and patterns in the kitchen that makes the trend list.
